    Room: Main Shrine Room

Please join us in the Main Shrine Room for the beautiful, haunting music of India Gailey on cello, and Jeff Reilly on bass clarinet, Saturday, March 16th at 7 pm.

India Gailey and Jeff Reilly, two of Halifax’s most prominent composer/performer/improvisers, will present a concert of improvised and original music for cello and bass clarinet in the Shambhala Centre shrine room. Embodying a meeting of minds across a full generation, these musical explorers will share an atmosphere of sounds that range from deep contemplative drones, to fleeting gestures and ephemeral melodies, making for a rich sonic experience completely unique to the moment.

Gailey is a rising national star, recently named as one of “30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30” by the CBC and is an active soloist, chamber musician and exploratory artist. She recently premiered her cello concerto Butterfly Lightning Shakes the Earth with Symphony Nova Scotia and released her third solo album Problematica.

Jeff Reilly is a twice Juno-nominated musician with a broad and extensive scope of work that spans over three decades. A soloist, collaborator, producer, conductor and founding member of the Upstream Music Association, he has had a significant impact on the local, national, and international improvised music scene.
