Public Meditation (Free)

The Halifax Shambhala Centre offers free, public meditation sessions at the following times. All are welcome!


Learn to Meditate

Both new and experienced meditators are welcome and warmly encouraged to attend our weekly Open House.  This is an opportunity to receive meditation instruction, participate in discussions, and to meet others interested in meditation.

There is no charge and no need to register. See below For more information, read about our Open House: “Taste of Shambhala”.


Public Meditation Sessions

Each public meditation is led by a time-keeper and is free, open to all.  Meditation instruction is available, as indicated below.* All are welcome to attend for all or part of the session. 

  • Morning meditation (new) – Monday to Friday : 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
  • Evening meditation (new) – Tuesday & Wednesday: 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday evening Open House – “Taste of Shambhala”
     Includes soup at 6 pm (suggested donation of $5) and meditation instruction & discussion at 7 pm. *
  • Sunday morning meditation: 9 a.m. to noon
     Includes mindfulness-awareness meditation, alternating with brief periods of walking meditation.  Meditation instruction available. *


Note
: The room location for meditation practice may change depending on availability at the time.  Please check, when you arrive at the centre, for the location.
