    Solstice Candlelight Ceremony

Thursday, December 21,  at 5 pm

The Candlelight Ceremonay is a celebration of the Winter Solstice in the Shambhala tradition. This is a time of year when the days have been getting shorter and shorter, but now will begin to grow longer again, so we celebrate the return of the light. We also celebrate the natural light in our lives, which is the beauty of children. This is a time of year to highlight love, family, warmth, and appreciation.

This evening candlelight ceremony marks the Winter Solstice and Children's Day, the following day. The celebration is for our entire community, friends and families.

    What You Need to Know

The ceremony will begin promptly at 5 pm. Arrival by 4:45pm is best.

There will be Hosts and Protectors present for your safety and comfort.

The doors to the Main Shrine Room will open at 5 pm, and we will enter together as a community, in song.

You will be handed a lit candle on the way in, and people will be present to assist children in placing them in front of the shrine.

If you feel you or your child will need a snack you are invited bring one. Covered beverage containers are permitted in the space.

There will not be a formal reception afterwards, but you are welcome to catch up with friends and family in the community room following the ceremony.
