We have now raised over $38,000 towards our goal of $39,090 for the renovations of the Halifax Shambhala Centre kitchen. This is due to the extraordinary generosity of Landy and Laurie Mallery, who have offered a matching gift of $18,500 to the project, and to the participants of the Sakyong’s Shambhala Sadhana program as well as other members and friends of the community.

This is an exciting development for the centre. Here is a link to donate if you haven’t made an offering to this project. Every little bit helps!

When we reach our goal we will move forward with the renovations. We would like to begin construction as soon as possible. See our design plans below.

We held a community meeting about the kitchen in early November and made some changes to the original plans based on feedback we received. We decided against a gas stove and replaced the service window with a rolling food cart, or Bunn rack. These designs are close to final, but we welcome any further thoughts or suggestions you have.

  1. I pledge $200 for the kitchen reno. I will drop off a cheque when I am next at the center.

    • Dear Gail, thank you for contributing to the kitchen. Your donation brings us to less than $6000 from our goal!
